A quilt kit? Happy Birthday! hee hee

My daughter was a little surprised when she opened her birthday gift last night and it was....quilt blocks. She is not a quilter, though it wouldn't take much to make her one. She loves fabric, and is interested in sewing, but never quite takes the leap. I have been planning on making this quilt for her birthday for awhile, just got caught up in making class models and writing patterns, so time slipped away from me and I didn't get it finished for her birthday yesterday.
I told her to take them to the design wall and start playing. At first she didn't know if she liked the smaller red/orangey blocks, but after she experimented with placement, she started liking them better. I still have more blocks to make, and I plan on having her come over and help with the final placement. Hopefully she will enjoy helping with the design process and that will make up for the fact that it wasn't finished for her birthday!
We both really liked this arrangement. You can see we did some shifting around.  I don't think I would've put the orangey blocks that close together, but after we finished playing with it, I loved it and think it might be a nice focal point for the center of the quilt.

I love the last layout. Maybe your daughter will get the quilting bug helping with the layout.
