Progress

I met with the first Highlights Sampler 20 group on Monday night to make the block, Ribbons. Jane brought both sets of her blocks (yes, she is making two!) Her grandson is her muse on this project as one of them will be his. We noticed how different the the two  Odd Man Out blocks looked when compared to each other. You could see a spool shape on the block to the right because she used fabrics that were closer in color and value to each other for the center and corner sections. We then looked at everyone else's blocks (this was their homework block) to see how their fabrics interacted with each other.

Marilyn is using some interesting fabrics in her quilt, her Ribbons block is below.
Mom and daughter duo, Janet and Rachel H, are making two very different quilts, each very pretty!
Laura's blocks are soft and pretty. I love it when they bring the blocks back every time and we can see the progress. Their homework this week is to start making the block borders that go around each block so that they can add them to the blocks as they make them.
Diana missed her Highlights class a few weeks ago, so she came and worked on her Dutchman's Puzzle block Monday night. She is using all red and white fabrics.
Carol stopped in with her Lone Star to get some advice on the set in corners so we got to see it. The class loved it we admired her use of color too! I can't wait to see this one finished!

It's always interesting to see how different the same patterns look, with different fabrics, and shades. Lots of nice blocks.
