Pretty Peppermint Pinwheels

Wow, I can't believe it's been over a week since I blogged. I really have to work harder at this. It's just been busy and I've been sewing and quilting like crazy.
Last weekend I hosted a UFO Saturday so everyone brought their own projects to work on. Two of the quilters brought their Curvy Log Cabin rulers so I helped them get started on making those blocks. Someone else worked on her Tangled in the Kite Strings blocks. So it was a very productive day. I took some pictures, and will post them soon.

I went home and finished quilting a challenge quilt that has been on the frame for a week or two. I am really excited to get it finished and will show you as soon as I can. I needed to finish it so I could put the Peppermint Pinwheels quilt on the frame and get it quilted. I had finished the top a few days before. So I finished it Sat. and loaded Peppermint Pinwheels on Sunday. It's not a huge quilt and I got it finished on Sunday, bound, and with a quilt label. Whew!
I love this quilt from the book Cultural Fusion Quilts. I love free form cutting anyway and this was so much fun to make. I will be teaching the class on the technique at Cut Up and Quilt in Nov.
Here are a few closeups of the quilting. I used the Starburst panto and bound it with the pinky/coral fabric. The backing is a mottled blue/green/purple batik that is beautiful.
I am going to Des Moines tomorrow to attend the AQS Quilt Show. I'm excited to see the exhibits and the vendors too. Hopefully I will be better at posting from now on!
