I have been watching people make things with selvages. At first I thought, cute but no way!
Then I started saving a few......
tonight I sewed a few together.
It is a lot of sewing...for not much width....
I had to go cut some more as I didn't have very long lengths.
I am determined to make something!
Be careful...selvage use is very addicting!
ReplyDeleteI just sent some to Diane. Definetly a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI saw a photo of a bag made from selvages the other day. It was cute.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to see the ultimate collection of selvage projects, check out the blogger at "selvageblog". She wrote a book on the subject. Now people send her photos of their selvage quilts, purses, pillows, lampshades, an umbrella, pincushions, a dress and even an upholstered chair. Hopefully you'll find inspiration there. It IS addicting.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've been saving selvages for a few months, but haven't started anything yet. At the quilt bee last wee, the ladies looked at me as if I was nuts when I asked for selvages from the fabrics we were cutting. Most of them just cut any old way and didn't save any for me. One lady will be saving hers for me, and I sent Karen Griska's blogsite address to another. Some of our ladies can be a little behind the times!
ReplyDeleteHow about a journal cover?
