The Red Letter Quilt Along began yesterday at Patchery Menagerie. I have wanted to learn more about making letters with fabric and incorporating them into quilts ever since Word Play Quilts by Tonya Ricucci came out. I am fascinated with this process, I just haven't found the time to try it. Along comes Lynne with her Red Letter Quilt Along, it's summer so I have a little more time and I am jumping in!
We need 25 fabrics of our color. She is doing hers in red, but you can do any color you want. I am using blues and have a pretty good assortment of them to choose from. My background is a pale pink/yellow/greenish blender.
Here is another orange. She is doing one letter a day on weekdays only, so it should be very doable.
Here is my first letter!!!! I love it!
I got about 2/3 finished quilting a friend's quilt today. I have one more of hers left.
Shouldn't you do the A in the color that pops? just saying . . .
ReplyDeleteI think you're doing very well! I think your A is great...
ReplyDeletelet me guess... is Angie your sister?
I am trying to resist...but I love your colours and your first letter. Wonder how strong my "no new projects" resolve is?!?!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your timing. I was literally, looking at a vintage alphabet quilt in Fons and Porter today and wondering...could I make one like that? Then thought, "hey, I got the "Word Play" book for Christmas...use that...but now you say there is a quilt along? Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteJean...you might be as evil as my sister when it comes to ideas for new projects!!

I'm her daughter.
ReplyDeleteWonderful groups of fabrics. You're going to have great fun.
ReplyDeleteNot my thing, but I've said that before about way too many projects. For now I'll just watch you play.
Love your colors! Perhaps one of the reddish oranges for the POP?
ReplyDeletewoohoo!!!!
