Moda Chantilly |
These are just some of the pretty fabrics in the Moda Chantilly charm pack! |
Do you see fabric and try to figure out what you could make with it or do you find a pattern and then try to find fabric that will be perfect for it?
For me it's a little bit of both. I love designing and making quilts and other projects with fabrics. Sometimes I find fabric I have to have...and try to decide what I could make with it. Sometimes I'm collecting fabrics for a project that I know I will be making (it's a good reason to collect, right?) and need more versatility.
I went shopping at Cut Up and Quilt for a charm pack to giveaway this week and found Moda Chantilly. I love the range of color...the prints were unique too. I decided if I wanted it, someone else would too!
This one has to be my favorite, though there are many awesome prints and I loved them all!
While I was at Cut Up and Quilt, I saw the kits they made up for Twist and Shout. Right now they have a limited number of kits made up using the fabrics I used...they look so pretty all stacked up and tied in a bow! If you are interested in a kit, contact them at the shop!
So what do you think? Are we quilting because we love fabric or are we buying fabric because we love making beautiful things? Leave a comment answering this question on this post for a chance to win this gorgeous Chantilly charm pack!
You can still leave a comment on the previous posts to win one of my patterns, or a copy of the magazine. Just click on the links. All giveaways are open through Sunday, March 9. Thanks for helping me celebrate!
I love quilting because I love creating items using the rich array of fabrics, with all the vibrant colors made available today. Moda is exceptional in their rich tones. I love them.
ReplyDeleteI love taking beautiful fabric and making something that is cherished... I dont like binding at all but the rest is great..
ReplyDeleteI love fabric!
ReplyDeleteConsidering the fact that I now have more fabric than I can possibly use in this lifetime, I'm someone who buys fabric to make beautiful things. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am a bit of both too - I collected the Joel Dewberry Modern Meadow because I just LOVED IT and have now decided on a pattern for it but I bought a pattern recently because I loved it so now I am searching for the perfect fabric for it!!! 50/50 for me!!
ReplyDeleteBoth! I love fabric, yarn...all fiber, but I love making beautiful things with them just as much!
ReplyDeleteOh I do both. I love fabric even if I don't have a project in mind. I haven't seen that charm pack yet. I like to use charm packs to make baby quilts. Piece the charms together and add a coordinating border.

I do both too but ultimately I love fabric!
ReplyDeleteBoth.Love play with fabrics and create beautiful things!
ReplyDeleteBoth. I spend hours in fabric stores. Sometimes the fabric comes first then the plan.
ReplyDeleteOh I think it is a little of both for me, I love fabric and I love creating. LOL Thanks for the fun!
ReplyDeleteI love fabric. It gives me such a good feeling. Sometimes I buy fabric just because I like the look of it- no project mind.
ReplyDeleteWhen I come home from buying fabric I love sitting on the couch with a nice cup a tea and unpack and look and pat my new fabric. Am I sick? I think not. I bet there a alot of people doing this. lol
Great give away. Thanks for the chance.
I am addicted to Great fabric and I HAVE to be creative! I'm not satisfied without multiple projects...whether sewing, crafts, photography or writing!

ReplyDeleteMaking quilts is addictive so buying fabric is addictive too. I look at it as therapy. It's cheaper then a psychiatrist and you get to make beautiful things. What's wrong with that?
ReplyDeletei love making quilts for people that love them
ReplyDeleteI love COLOR so I collect fabric and paper. Sometimes I even use them in a project!! (grin) Congrats and thanks for a chance to win the fabric,
ReplyDeleteI love fabric for the possibility each piece holds. It can be a quilt, a skirt, a baby burp cloth. Let's face it - it is a bit of an addiction.
ReplyDeleteI love petting fabric, and then the making of things with said petted fabric comes next :)
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric because I love to make beautiful things!

My answer is YES - both! Some fabric I just want because it is pretty and I never want to cut it. But I love making beautiful things too, so I cut it and make them (sometimes.)
ReplyDeleteI love making things, so it's a bonus that the fabrics are so pretty.
ReplyDeletei love to buy fabric to make
ReplyDeletepretty things..
Jean I love making beautiful useful things from lovely fabrics
ReplyDeleteI quilt because I love the fabric, and then hope it turns out beautiful!

Definitely both... started out getting fabric for quilts, now find inspiration both ways!
ReplyDeleteLove the color and design of this charm pack. Usually I fall in love with fabric first and then find a project that shows it off. Other times I want to make a gift and choose a design first and then search for just the right fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric then figure out what pretty thing to make with it most of the time but sometimes.....I love the pattern and decide what pretty fabric to use for it, it is a vicious circle.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a bit of both. My friend and I were talking about this the other day - do the projects justify the fabric or the fabric necessitate the projects??
ReplyDeleteYes, fabric is great, but it's the beautiful things we make from it that really matter.
ReplyDeleteBoth! I buy some fabric, knowing that I may never use it, just because I like it. Other fabric is purchased for a specific project, and I know it will be used, and turned into something pretty.
ReplyDeleteI have ideas of what I want to make but not sure of the colors. When in the fabric shop I let the fabric grab me. Then I go from there. Thank you for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely both for me. For this, I'd buy the charm pack first because it's so pretty and then find a pattern to use it in. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteOoooooh! I LOVE pretty fabrics...and buy them to make gifts & surprises from my heart! :) Sometimes get a pattern first...depends on each project....
ReplyDeleteI think I'm quilting because I love making beautiful things to give away.
