I had a great time Saturday teaching some eager students how to make Cathedral Windows using their sewing machines, no hand sewing. Some used other colors behind the windows...like Joann.
Some used the same color to frame the windows....either way there was a wide assortment of fabrics, all of them were shaping up to be winners!
You can make the windows out of just about anything, including holiday motifs.
Florals work well too, and Candy's batiks just shine!Darlene used yellow behind the windows. She is using up some fabrics that she made a quilt with several years ago.
We all loved these florals!
I finished the new sampler blocks yesterday, so now I have to find two fabrics for the setting blocks. They will be simple half square triangles...very large ones. I am anxious to get this finished now!
Lovely Cathedral Windows. One of my favorite designs.

If I lived just a few hours closer, I'd be one of those eager students. Cathedral windows have always intrigued me. I even have a book to study them. Taking your class would be a better strategy.
ReplyDeleteGreat projects by your students, as always.
I just love this pattern, the pillows came out great. The class was so much fun.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular.Love them all!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Cathedral Windows! I particularly like the blue and yellow ones. Very striking combo!
ReplyDeleteI've never understood how the darn things are put together, so if I lived closer, I'd for sure be in your class. But, I guess my guild will be having a class on how to do these on the machine. I wonder if it is the same technique as yours?
All so beautiful, Jean!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I visit your Blog is the same feeling: GREAT ADMIRATION
for your skills and your teaching abilities-shame I don' t live closer.
Best regards,
Dolly
Lovely results. Cathedral Window is my favourite techniques, although I do prefer to do it by hand.
