Snuggly baby fun...

 I went to meet my newest great-nephew, Matthew, today. He is one adorable baby.You might remember when I was working on his quilt....well, it fit him just right!

In fact, he got so excited about it, he started to dance!

When I got home, I started quilting my round robin quilt. I got about half of it finished. Then I went to a meeting for the local quilt show I am helping with. We met to finalize our plans and take in some more quilts. The quilts will be on display from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Senior Center on Sunday, June 10. If you live in the area and would like to loan a quilt for us to display, come to the Senior Center tonight, through Thursday night from 5:30 - 7:00. And be sure to come to the Center Sunday for the show!

Bindings and kitties

 I finished the bindings on 2 more quilts over the weekend. The Matthew quilt is bound,washed and ready for it's owner to be born...she is due in about 3 weeks. I used the light blue that I used in the checkerboard for the binding. I love how they crinkle up after washing.

 The Diamond Rehash is bound and washed as well. I'm not sure where it will go yet, maybe over my chair. Even though this was made with the leftovers from another quilt, it has its own beauty. Sometimes those are the best!

 I went to Seams to Be Quilt Shoppe in Plattsmouth on Sunday. I found these 3 fabrics that I think will work with the others in the Hollow Cube quilt.

 I was laying out fabrics so that I could take a picture and Conrad jumped right in to help. He must love yellow or something!

 I did find some good yellows! They are hard to find sometimes.

What is it about cats and fabric?  He finally ran off to attack play with Smokey.

I am teaching one of the monthly Sampler Clubs tonight...it's a great bunch of ladies!

Baby quilt quilted...now to bind...

 I finished quilting the baby quilt on Saturday. The panto is called Oriental Illusion, but I think it looks like the tops of palm trees, so I think it goes well with the jungle animal theme of the quilt.

 Now to bind it. I have border/back fabric left, but hate to waste it on binding since it is so cute. I have enough of the solid blue too, so might use that. Or I could do it scrappy....haven't decided yet.

 I love the border/back fabric and bought extra, so I have enough left to make something else with this theme. Any more nieces having boys? This is our third since November! He will make an appearance in about a month.

I had a great time spending Easter with my family yesterday. We also celebrated my Dad's birthday while we were all together. His birthday is today. Here he is with Mom and the two newest great grandchildren.

Today is my last day of Spring Break...hate to see it end, but better get busy and make the most of it!

A starter day...

 I sewed the stripsets together for the Hollow Cube, Too, quilt on Tuesday, so I was ready to start cutting them into triangles yesterday. This is one set of three colors. I can see this quilt will be somewhat labor intensive, like the tumbling blocks, but it will be worth it in the end.

I also cut the matching flat trapezoids. Next step, sew them to the triangles! Maybe later...

Then I sewed the back together for this baby quilt. I am using this border fabric on the back. You can't really see the design here, I will look at the name of the panto later and fill you in. I think it looks like the top of a palm tree, so thought it would look great on this one.  I got one row quilted when my daughter called and asked me if I wanted to go shopping.  So that is as far as I got with it. I plan on working on it later as well. 

I designed a quilt block for the Accuquilt Barn Quilt Design Contest, so have been working on it too. You can turn in the computer file picture of it, so that is what I did, but I wanted to make it as well. I finished the paper pieced middle the other night, only to discover that the paper had moved a bit (I was using the freezer paper method and didn't notice until it was too late). So I have to redo two parts of that section, which wouldn't be that big of a problem except I used fabrics from my stash, so don't have a lot left of a couple of them. Hopefully it will work out. I am giving it (or me) a couple of days to chill.... They will post the top 100 blocks on April 11 and open it up for voting, so I will let you know if I make it into that group!

Lots to do today...better get busy!

Deb's Round Robin and the animal border is on!

 I taught a Sampler class Wed. night and when I got there, I saw that Rose had dropped off Deb's round robin. Love how she finished with the spools that were in the original center.

 I sewed the last border on the baby quilt last night...I love that playful animal border.

Now to find something for the back and get it quilted! I am counting down the days until our spring break (5, in case you are wondering). I have so many things I want to do...including some quilting, of course. 

A little more progress...

 I worked on the baby quilt some more last night. Filled in around Matthew with some background and some small four patches.

I added a small green border that I think looks really nice with the animal fabric I got to go on the border.

I am excited to get it finished!

Some Sunday sewing...

 I guess I was still celebrating National Quilting Day yesterday...after doing some cleaning and laundry I worked on the baby quilt I started Saturday for awhile. I played around with some ideas and finally decided to go with four patches using some of the animal prints I had. Now I need to decide what to do to fit the name in. It only needs about 6" to make it the same width as the rest, so I could just add some of the background to make it the same size and call it good. I definitely want background above and below the name. I have that really cute fabric to use on the border, too. I'm excited to get it finished.

 It is hard to get a good pic of Conrad, since he moves all the time and if the light isn't right, you can't see his face since he is so dark.

 I think these turned out nicely.

He has grown so much!

Great day sewing!

I had a great day sewing with friends yesterday! The first thing I worked on was the easy receiving blanket that I saw on Missouri Star Quilt's YouTube video.  It was as easy as they said, and I can see where the more you made, the faster you would go. I made mine using 42" and 52" squares instead of 30" and 40" squares because I like them just a little bigger. It turned out about 47". 

I also got started on my new great nephew's quilt....since we know his name, I thought it would be fun to do some free pieced letters. I just hope the Dr. is right about the sex of the baby...cos that could render this quilt useless! Anyway...I hope to work on it some more later. Am not positive what I am going to do, but have a few ideas.

 Brenda worked a quilt she is making her husband.

 Dianne is making a special quilt for her granddaughter.

 Kim hosted this fun day and is working on a miniature quilt. Lots of tiny pieces!

Pat brought her finished Twisterweave Mystery Quilt to show and tell! Love it! She worked on a sampler quilt we are doing in class.
