Still quilting Thursday...

I am still at it, finished quilting a Tshirt quilt today. It turned out nicely I think. I used a scroll panto, so not so heavy quilting, but enough. I haven't taken a pic of it yet but I will later. Yesterday I quilted a small kid's quilt. It is a cute and simple pattern, almost looks like snakes. It is to the right >>>

Went to 2 small quilt shops today with a friend. She wanted to get some of the Laurel Burch Christmas fabrics for a tree skirt. They had the whole line at the first one, never saw so many. Most shops have some but not all. We worked out a pattern for her to make using snowball blocks that look like ornament balls. It should be really cute. I am curious about what they will do with her line since she died last year. This one has come out since then, so wonder if someone is redoing and recreating her designs or what? I will have to look into that.

Tuesday quilting

I finished quilting a Log Cabin quilt today for a friend. It is a beautiful quilt, black and white with a touch of red. It is huge and took me about 8.5 hours to quilt. Whew....but I am happy with the results. I used the Trumpet Vine panto( I like the way it quilts -heavily) and double thick poly batting. I have been working on some other class stuff, then think I will go up and load another quilt on the machine. I have 4 more to do, but one is a tablerunner....easy! I do the best quilting in the morning, so if I load it tonight it will be ready to go.

New projects

This is the string-piecing project I have been working on. I will be teaching an upcoming class on this fun and easy quilt. The best part of string-piecing is that you use up your scraps and leftovers from other projects and there is no need to buy more fabric. Well, until you use up all those scraps and leftovers, then of course you will be dangerously low on fabric and will have to go out and buy some more!

The second quilt is the LeMoyne Star Stack n Whack Quilt. I have made others from Bethany Reynolds book, but not this one. She makes it easy to do the LeMoyne Star without the "Y" seams, which I loved. Plus it is always fun to do a Stack n Whack as there is always the surprise of what the blocks will look like. I wanted to use a background color that would blend with the background of the S & W print so that you would mostly see the design.

Poor excuse for a blog....

Ok, I know I said I was going to do better, but guess what??? I didn't. So I will try again.

I have been working on some quilt projects for upcoming classes at the store. I have also been quilting today. I am using the trumpet vine panto to quilt a black, white and red log cabin. It is gorgeous, not mine, but a young quilters who sometimes takes classes with me.

It is about 100 out today so a good day to stay in and quilt!

Slacking off

I haven't posted here for a long time. I am still working on quilts and classes. I did manage to finish a lot of ufo quilts this summer as well as start some new ones.....I even started a couple quilts and actually quilted and finished them. It was a new peak in happiness, though don't expect it all the time. I have also been practicing my machine quilting and feel like I have accomplished a little in that direction, even though I continually find more things I don't know about it, and have to figure out. I love it when it is going well, and everything works.

Baby quilt

Mystery quilt

I have been working on a mystery quilt for a class I am going to teach. I got it finished yesterday and got the pattern written today. That always takes longer than I think it should, as I write notes the whole time I am working on it. I also finished a baby quilt this week. I just have to put the binding on, which I need to do so it is finished. I got sidetracked by the mystery quilt. We had a blizzard today so I didn't have school. It is just like being a kid again, having snow days! There is no school tomorrow either, though it doesn't look so bad out now.
