Hexies

One of the things I bought at the AQS show in Des Moines was a set of the mylar hexies. I have been thinking about making hexies for awhile as I have been seeing them a lot online, but wasn't fond of the idea of cutting all those paper hexies. And let's admit it...I didn't know if I would actually do it. So hated to start. After watching a demo of using the mylar hexies at the show, I ordered (they were out) a set of the 1" hexies to try it out. They came Saturday, so I got busy!

My first flower! It was fun. I basted another one but haven't sewn it together yet. Hopefully I will get enough done to make a runner at least...lol..I'm a realist, ok?
Now, let's think about this...if I could make one a day.....

Oh Jean, you are so brave to be making these! What a lot of fussy cutting and hand sewing you will have to do. But your first block looks really wonderful!! (I have never tried these and probably never will.)

Your first hexie flower is fresh and crisp and pretty. One a day or a few per week are a great steady pace, & your garden will grow.
I'm using the solid cardboard templates, but the Mylar ones with the center hole look tempting to try.
