More on the mystery quilt and some finishes from classes....

I got the mystery quilt about half quilted Monday. It isn't huge, about 62" x 62". I am trying out a new panto...so far it is going well. This is the back fabric...I really like it and may have to make something else out of it.

The panto is Feather Me by Meredith Englund. It has 2 rows, each about 6" wide. I really like it.
Diana brought a couple finishes to class last night. She got her Diamonds Forever quilt finished...isn't it bright and pretty?
She is the one who put all her puzzle pieces vertically. Makes a pretty quilt.

The ladies in Beginning Quilting will be putting on their borders tomorrow night. Should be fun. They were excited last week as their fabrics started looking like a quilt. Hopefully I can get some pictures next week before we layer and tie them.

The weekend and a win...

I worked most of Saturday on the mystery quilt pattern and it is finished! I need to go back and review it in a couple days, just to make sure I didn't make any mistakes with numbers. After my brain rests up...

Had a great Easter with family. It turned out to be a beautiful day here in Iowa, around 60, and after teasing us for awhile, the sun eventually did come out.

I found out that I won some gorgeous fabric over at Canton Village Quilt Works! The fabric I won is from Jennifer Paganelli's newest line, Honey Child. You can read all about Jackie's visit with Jennifer here. Wouldn't it be fun to meet a designer! I would probably be speechless. Jackie has an online fabric shop where she sells many gorgeous fabrics.....like these! Thanks Jackie for the opportunity to win!

I am off one more day so would like to get the mystery quilt on the frame and start quilting it. I have a quilt shop trip planned with a friend too, so am looking forward to that.

New mystery quilt finished.....

I finished the mystery quilt the other day, so felt it was safe to figure out the supplies needed. I also had to design something to hang at the store to advertise the class, but can't hang the quilt itself...it being a mystery and all...so I  used some of the fabrics, labeling them to match the supply list so people could see what I used. It is not as pretty as hanging a quilt for display, but it will have to do! I have scheduled this class for three Saturday mornings in June

I have a few days off from school for spring break, so spent some time yesterday cleaning and then worked on the pattern for the mystery. I got the first clue finished. I want to get the pattern finished this weekend. I also picked out a back for it, so hope to get it quilted soon too.

Another great Jigsaw Puzzle class & you can still vote!

The classroom was a colorful display of puzzle pieces again yesterday. Everyone had fun assembling their pieces and beginning to sew them together.

.

I had hung large pieces of flannel backed tablecloth vinyl to be used as design walls, There are always a couple of pieces in there, but for this quilt class, everyone needed their own as you have to lay out the pieces and see how they connect to put it together. I love how the classroom looks with all the puzzle pieces on the wall!
***Note for all those in the class, I posted all the pictures to my Flickr account, link on the upper right side of my blog.

It's been a busy week of classes. I had 3 night classes this week as well.

The voting is still going on until Tuesday, April 19 for the Accuquilt Barn Quilt Contest, so if you haven't voted already and would like to, please vote for me here. It is sort of unclear as to how the winner is picked, as there are celebrity judges as well. I assume the highest vote getters will be in the finalists, then the celebrity judges take it from there.

Exciting news! I'm a finalist!

I got some exciting news today....I am one of the top 100 finalists in the Accuquilt Barn Quilt Contest. This is the block I entered. It is one of the blocks I designed for the new Sampler Quilt I recently completed. Please follow this link and like my block! If I win, it will become a barn quilt at the Accuquilt headquarters in Fremont, NE.

I have been working on a new design for a mystery quilt. I posted pix of the fabrics awhile
back. I am almost finished with it, just have to add the borders. I am planning a class with 3 sessions to give everyone a chance to make this mystery and also keep them guessing! I haven't taught a mystery quilt for a couple of years, so it should be fun. Sorry I can't post pix of it, you might tell!

I have also been working on the Circle and Spin quilt for my daughter. Here are the blocks I have done so far.

I love asian prints! Can you use too many in one quilt?
 So vibrant, so alive...

...is it wrong to love fabric this much?

Where does the time go? It really is a puzzle!

I hadn't realized I hadn't posted in a week, but things get busy, plus I have been battling a cold. So there it is. My excuse.

Had a great class yesterday teaching the Jigsaw Puzzle Quilt. I knew everyone would need a design wall, so covered up some dark fabric wallboards with flannel backed tablecloth and we had lots of design wall space. Funny thing we noticed, it also brightened up the room a lot.

It has turned out to be a popular class...I am teaching 2 more classes in the coming weeks.
The puzzle pieces were so pretty on the walls!

Diana (on the right) did hers a little differently...can you tell how?
So did Darlis....she got a really good deal on ebay...some pretty cut strips of fabric...
They were only 1" strips! She said she was only making it 40". I did the math, but let's not tell her. She can  be surprised! Can't wait to see it finished!

Darlis also brought a finished Circle and Spin quilt.
