Two more puppies

I made two more dogs today. I really like making them and have a plan to make 5 plus some footprints, which are on the pattern as well. It will be smaller than the original pattern. The designer  has a pattern for cats too...they are really cute too and I'm tempted to get it as well.

Now to find a back!

I sewed with friends yesterday, and finished this quilt top for my soon to be born great niece. I had some pink flannel to back it, but it has a flaw so I will have to go find something else. I thought bringing out the bright colors in the kids print would accent the blocks, but it might have taken over. Hopefully the baby will wear it out before she knows enough to judge it. It might keep her awake at night, though.

She has a brother who is about 1 1/2 yr. old who doesn't have his quilt yet because I just made it recently too. So I want to get hers finished so I can send them both.
I bought several of these panels a few years ago as they make nice kid's quilts. I used about 1 1/2 yds. of it so it was big enough to curl up in. I stitched it down to a red fleece back so it would be soft, but flat enough to play on. Simple but nice for a boy to play cars on. Since I am so slow with his baby present, he is probably getting to be the perfect age to play with it. Good timing???

In my defense, they live in Arizona and haven't been back here since he was born, or I probably would've gotten in gear sooner....deadlines are always helpful (that's my story and I'm sticking to it).

Sunday sewing...

Class went well yesterday, I think, and I will post pictures next week of some of the blocks/quilts. Most of them got 1 - 2 blocks finished, which was good considering most of them hadn't done paper piecing before. We meet again next Saturday so that gives them a chance to work on more blocks or not, depending on how much time they have.

I finished quilting my great-niece's quilt this morning...you might remember seeing it when I was working on it. I want to make a label for it. I think I have seen some online. If you have any suggestions of places to look, let me know. I'm not very good at making labels for quilts...I know I should, but don't usually. I do try to sign and date each one, and attach labels occasionally, when it is for family or special occasions.
This is the back. The pic is a little darker than what it really is. I like this pattern, it is very busy and I like the way it interlocks. On to something else!

Dots All Over baby quilt

I had a good time shopping yesterday. Found some fabrics, a pattern, and some pink and white polka dot minkie! It was even half price! I would say that it was meant to be the back of the baby quilt. I was wishing I had a circle panto of some sort, then realized that one of my new ones has curliques, so used it. (It is the 3rd pictured in post below.)
I was going to use flannel, but will just use on something else. I was a little worried about quilting it, but it went fine. I did use stabilizer on it first, so no stretching. Now to put on the binding (It is light pink with tiny white dots.)

My sister headed back to Canada this morning. About 16 of us went out to eat last night to say good-bye. We have had a lot of family gatherings in the past 2 weeks, so I feel like I got to visit with her & the rest of my family a lot. They are getting out just ahead of the nasty weather we are having here today. It is cold, dreary and rainy, which is now freezing. Wonder how they fared in Denver?
