Roses in October

I love it when people bring in their finished quilts from a class they took....this one is no exception! You might remember the blocks Jane was making during the Funky Rock Stars class a little over a week ago...she was using up lots of batik scraps. Isn't it gorgeous? I love how she used all blues in the background and a large variety of color in the stars.
Tuesday night was Sampler #15 night....we worked on the Patchwork Rose block. I love this block, and might have to make something else using it. I don't know if it's the play on size, with the outer half square triangles being larger than the inner blocks or what, but I think it's really pretty.
You can see the students are using a variety of fabrics and backgrounds. We had a couple of people out sick the other night....hate that the cold/flu season is here along with cooler weather.
I missed getting a pic of Rose's block...will try to get pics of all of their finished sets of blocks next month as they are progressing nicely.

We are gearing up at school for our big move back to our remodeled building. I am not really looking forward to packing all those books again, but am really ready to just do it, instead of talk about it!

Looking back and ahead to Christmas

I finished the Star of Christmas Table Topper over the weekend. I like the wonky style of the stars....not quite perfect, but balanced. I took a step back in time and found a post about the first one I made. It really doesn't seem like four years ago, but the blog doesn't lie!

I taught the last class of the Beyond the Stars Sampler last night...they got more chatting done than sewing, but it was fun. I unveiled the new sampler and they liked it! Now to get all the patterns written for it. I took a good pic of it too, so I will post that tomorrow. That class will begin meeting on Mon. Oct. 8.

Sunday is for sewing!

A few more of the blocks for the new Sampler. I hope to get it finished today.
The color in these pictures isn't the greatest. I took them at night.
I will get some better ones soon, but you get the idea.
I really like this one!
Have a quilty Sunday!

Ahhhhhh.....the weekend....more blocks...

Here are a couple more of my blocks for my Sampler quilt. I hope to get it finished this weekend. I am teaching a Binding 101 Class on Saturday, but then plan to get this Sampler done! The house must suffer another weekend...sorry house! I have a busy week of night classes next week too, so I guess I won't be home enough for it to bother me as much!
This Sampler is a combination of more intricate blocks, and some easier blocks to join things together.  I am anxious to see the rows sewn together. Maybe tonight!
 A few more retreat pix...
Funny lady! We played multiple games of our quilting game...we roll the dice, move the fat quarters around until someone has them all or all but one has lost theirs.

If you haven't been on a retreat like this I highly recommend it. It really isn't that hard to plan once you find a good place to go.
On to Friday Fun....otherwise known as work.
