New little iron pouch

I have been meaning to make a little carrying pouch for my traveling iron for awhile now, but haven't gotten around to it. I have made many pouches using the Boxy Quilted Zipper Pouch tutorial on Craftsy. They are so fun and easy to make. I used the same instructions, but changed the dimensions of the rectangle to 10" x 16".

As you can see it fits my travel iron and cord perfectly. I put a large handle on one end, not sure if I will need it, but thought I might. I can always tie it in a decorative knot if I find it's not useful.

I love making these pouches....they make great gifts too!

A new toy!

I got something new the other day...love when the mailman brings boxes! I saw this traveling iron when a student brought it to class awhile back. It is a great size to have beside you while sewing and no collapsible handle to annoy. I found it here and since it was very affordable, I had to get it.
It has a steam feature too, which is nice sometimes. I don't always use steam, but it's nice to have it when you want it.
 It fits!
When I bring my iron out to the sewing room with me, I worry the cats will knock it off, as they are always right there. So I think this one will be nicer to have close by.
I haven't done much sewing lately because of the painting, but I had printed these labels on the fabric sheets you run through your printer, so I tried it out while color-fasting those.
It worked great! I put some fusible on the back and attached one of them to the quilt.
I then hand-blanket stitched around it...of course I forgot to take a picture of that!

There's still time to visit Kerstin at Cookie's Treasures and sign up for her giveaway!

My daughter is off today so she is coming over to help me paint in a little bit. I'm so excited that I finished scraping and priming the last of the trim boards yesterday, so one more coat on that and I'm ready for paint. Happy Friday!
