Rain rain rain
The cats are hiding in the basement as it is thundering and lightning and pouring down rain. This is the craziest summer ever, so much rain. Not that I am complaining, because what usually happens is that it all of a sudden it stops and then no rain the rest of the summer.
I have been working on a new quilt to use for teaching Beginning Quilting in the fall. I have used the same pattern ( a version of a nine-patch) for the past 6 years, so thought it was time for a change. Wanda suggested I use the Double 4 -patch, so I am taking her advice. It is easy and offers chances to match up, but not so tricky that it will cause them to give up! Plus it makes a couple of interesting patterns. I have the blocks made, now to sew them together. When I teach this class, they make if from start to finish, so learn to layer, tie and bind also. So I don't want the quilt to be too big or we would never get it finished.
I got the binding put together for the baby quilt, now to get it on!
Don't forget to stop over at Sewmeows for her great birthday giveaway. She is adding a new item every day. So far there have been a lot of kitties.

Hey that's funny. Here in the Netherlands it is quite the same with the weather. Very sunny for a long time (that is regretful not usual) and the last two days giant thunderstorms. A lot of water at one place (streets like rivers sometimes) and a few kilometers ahead nothing! Strange!!!
temperature drops from 30 degrees (Celsius) to 15 degrees in a day.
greetings,
You can't go wrong with advice from Wanda. Her post in late June with photos of double 4-patch blocks and quilts is impressive. Looks like you have a winning idea.
Thunderstorms put me on edge. We have just boring gray skies with a little rain now & then.
I like your visitors counters. Interesting info.
Beautiful color choice.
Your students will love it. It is easy but fun.
I think your students will love this one too.
We too are getting storms and because we get frequent power outages I do not machine sew so it is hand stitching for me today.
Love the class sample Jean! Beautiful color choices and you'll definitely be filling your students w/excitement when they see it :) We've got rain down here in SFL this afternoon too.
We are having the similar weather this summer. No rain today, but it was cloudy and it's supposed to get down into the 40's tonight! Crazy weather!
I love the fabrics in your blocks...you sure can't be depressed about the weather working with those colors!
orange and purple, my favourite colour combination
Love and hugs Gina xxx
These bright colors should add sunshine to your day ... TTFN~ Marydon
