More finishes from classes

I always enjoy getting pictures from quilters of the finished projects from my classes.

 Yuko finished last Saturday's project, Rock Candy, already, and it's quilted and bound! So pretty!

Kathy B. finished her free pieced letters project and practiced some free motion quilting on it, so she calls it her learning quilt! She made her grandchildren's names for the quilt.

I finished working on sorting the colorwheel squares last night so they are ready for class tomorrow. Tonight I'm riding up to my hometown with my daughter to visit my parents. Hopefully some other family members will be able to come over and visit too.

This and that

It's been a busy week so far. I sewed and quilted all day Sunday and sorted colorwheel squares in the evening for kits for the class this Sat. I'm not sure anyone needs a kit, but I decided I had them cut so I might as well make them as it will be nice to have them sorted that way anyway. These are the fabrics I'm using on the mystery quilt...I wanted to take a picture of them in good light as it helps to have it on the supply sheet for the class. It's hard enough to pick fabrics for a quilt you haven't seen, so it helps to see what I used.

 I taught a Sampler Club Monday night and went out to eat with my sister and her husband last night. It was their last night in town before they went back to Vancouver Island today. I have another Sampler Club tonight, so that will be fun and keep me out of trouble.

You might remember seeing this quilt in its early stages awhile back when I taught the class on free piecing letters. This quilter sent me a picture of her finished quilt! She is going to use the letters again when she makes a t-shirt quilt for her daughter.

Hopefully I will get some more quilting done tomorrow night, I'm really anxious to get the tessie quilt finished!

Spell it out for me!

 I spent Tuesday  making more free pieced letters for a new project. I am going to teach this technique again later on this year. I had a phrase all worked out, and the letters made,  but I decided it was too long and the quilt would turn out too big, so I started playing with the letters to see  which words/letters to keep and which to lose. Still playing....

 I had to make some asterisks too because they are just so much fun. Did I already say that? Anyway, they are a fun addition to any free piecing project.

 I have my last Kids Camp today....more pj pants. Then I hang up my summer camp hat for another year.

More blocks and a model kitty

I made a couple more funky star blocks last night. They are fun, easy sewing. I used the same center strips as the others with white background, just didn't tilt them. I like this off-set four patch center too. I have used all of my white background squares, so what color next?

  I think maybe Conrad would make a great model....he just appears out of nowhere when I lay blocks down for picture taking!

Maybe I need to start my own network....Quilting with Conrad!

Wonky, crooked? funky?

 I had fun going to the auction Sunday. Truth is, I was a little afraid to bid on anything because they go so fast and are hard to understand. You can tell I am a newbie at auctions! It was fun going, and I really didn't need anything there!

 I came home and worked on some more wonky stars, using white for the background.

 These are fun and easy to make. I haven't decided where this is going, but I want to teach a workshop or two on free-piecing, so will use these for a model. I made the crooked centers all the same on these four.

 I have lots of strips cut for other projects, and just scraps of fun prints, so it isn't hard to find fabrics to use. I like how the stripes turned out. They were actually diagonal on the fabric.

Guess who wouldn't let me take a picture of them on the floor.....are you tired of pictures of Conrad yet? 

 He finally lost interest and wandered off.

 Here they are with the ones I made last week. It's always interesting how they look on point, isn't it?

What color background next? I have some baby blue left from the baby quilt...
