Giveaway winner and Quilters of the Corn, the sequel

Thanks to all who participated in the Red, White and True QAL Big Finish Giveaway of a Fat Quarter Shop $50 gift card...the winner is.....Kathy E! Have fun shopping, Kathy!
Rachel S. Red, White and True

As you finish those Red, White and True quilts, I would love to see them so send me  pictures, blog about it or add your pictures to the Flickr page. Let me know so I don't miss it! I found Rachel's picture of her finished top on the Flickr page this AM. Isn't it beautiful? You can still download all the free patterns from Craftsy, or if you prefer the tutorials, the links to everything are on the Red, White and True QAL page which you will find on the page bar above. The Craftsy patterns will remain free for the next month, then I will rewrite it as one pattern and sell it that way.

I'm just back from a quilt retreat at Stitchin' Tree Quilter's Cottage in Woodbine, IA. The cottage is attached to Stitchin' Tree Quilts, a unique quilt shop about a mile from Woodbine. It's a nice place to getaway and Teresa lets us shop round the clock if we want. So it's not unusual for someone to jump up from sewing and head out to the shop. We had a great time and got lots of sewing done. I will post more about it as the week goes on, so will just post the Quilters of the Corn, the Sequel picture for today. You might remember this Quilters of the Corn picture from last year's retreat there. This is our fifth retreat here and our 11th retreat together.

I have lots to do today to get caught up around here. I have a class tonight too. Happy Monday!

New beginnings and a winner!

We got off to a great start last Thurs. night when the new quilters started sewing their new fabrics in to blocks! That's exciting anytime you have new fabric, but especially so when it's your first quilt.
They are definitely going to be pretty quilts! I can't wait until this week to see how many they got made...yes, they had homework!
Marta took the Modern Cathedral Windows class last month and brought this show and tell on Sat. to show me her new windows. She sized it down a bit, sewed the main parts together by machine and is going to handsew the windows down. Pretty.....
Notice how she fussy cut the flowers in the centers of one and made a design using darker fabrics in the center of the other.

Rafflecopter chose the winner of the $25 GC to Fat Quarter Shop this morning \ /  \ /  \ / drumroll, please.... Maryellen McAuliffe will be making something very pretty soon with her new purchases at Fat Quarter Shop! Thanks to FQS for sponsoring this giveaway, and Maryellen, please stop back and share what you got!

I'm a winner!

We have enjoyed having my daughter, Angie, here visiting the past week. We had cookouts here Sat. night and Sunday, and went shopping at an outlet mall yesterday. Here is a pic of her and my parents while we were there Thurs/Friday. We are going out for lunch before taking her to the airport today.
I was excited to win some Christmas fabrics from I Have a Notion last week. Thanks Kelly! Is it just me, or are they ADORABLE???

Hmmmm, now what to make? Any ideas?

A finished GerriAnn and fun in the mail...

You know it's time to clean out your closet when you can't fit the clothes you actually wear in there. I got that job done this morning, then got busy and put the binding on GerriAnn. She is officially finished!
Here is a pic of the binding. It is a goldish batik with green leaves so I thought it looked good with both the front and the kids print I put on the back.
This is much prettier in real life, not the greatest pic.
I received my thread winnings from Mary at Molly Flanders in the mail yesterday....it's so much fun to get things in the mail! She also sent me this cutest little pincushion! I love it, thanks Mary!

A little too much excitement, but hopefully back to normal!

I received my giveaway prize from JoJo's Quilt Shoppe yesterday. What fun, I spread them out this morning so to better enjoy each and every beautiful fabric. Wow is all I have to say! Now what should I make with these.....
As you can see some are the animals from the park, some the florals, and some just plain fun!

We had a little too much excitement on Christmas. My dad fainted while we were preparing to eat. So we went to a local hospital to have him checked out. They referred us on to Creighton Hospital in Omaha. He has had most every test known to man, and about 10 Drs. conferring!  We are thankful he did not have a stroke or heart attack. They think it was a side effect to some medicine he started back in Aug. So they have changed 2 meds and he got to go home yesterday. He has felt good throughout his stay in hospital, no more fainting. So now we wait and see, I guess. My dad is an active 86 yr. old, so pretty much keeps on going.....lol!

I plan on getting back to sewing today, need to finish the spiderweb stringpiecing today. I just want to add a piano key border. I have many strips pieced at this point, just need to cut them into sections and sew them to the quilt.
