Sewing with friends on National Quilt Day

I have to admit that after Monday night's class, I didn't get a lot accomplished during the evenings this week. I did do some sorting and putting away of leftover fabric from the past few projects I've made, but that's about it. I have been riding my exercise bike again too, have to get back in shape for the summer!

I'm excited that I am sewing with friends today! I have another great nephew on the way, so want to work on his baby quilt....he is due in May. I am going to use some of the animal themed bits and pieces left from another baby quilt...
along with this adorable fabric that I fell in love with. I am planning on doing some free-pieced letters. The light blue will be the background.
I saw a YouTube video from Missouri Star Quilt Co. for a self-bound receiving blanket. It looks so fun and easy, I have to try it. I am going to make mine slightly larger than they do on the video. I have no idea who this will be for, but who could resist those cute little angels? Someone will have a girl, eventually!
I probably won't get to this, but threw it in anyway. These are the leftover strips from the Tumbling Blocks quilt. I plan to sew them together in stripsets.  I have been doing that with leftover strips lately, instead of throwing them in the stringpiecing bin. Two reasons....it is full (surprise, surprise) and I thought it would be fun to just sew strips together and think of something to do with them later. There are lots of these, so I could probably make a baby quilt out of them.
Only one bag, just flipped it over. Do you save the bags that sheets come in? They make great quilting project bags. You can see what's inside.

What are you doing for National Quilt Day?

Mosaic in Spain & Wanda's Favorite

Wanda's (Exuberant Color) Current Favorite caused a few comments the other day as she wondered if she should change the name. Her bright quilt got me thinking about a picture my nephew posted while in Spain studying a few months ago. This is the photo...when I saw this I thought about what a pretty quilt it would make. He had it labeled La Alhambra in Granada.

He's back in the states and I am finally finished shopping...

We know that my nephew is back in the states. He has been studying in Spain this past semester, so I was happy to hear he made it through that long flight over the ocean. He landed in Detroit a few hours ago, and will soon be boarding a plane to Des Moines. My niece will pick him up and bring him the rest of the way home. We are all anxious to see him, as you can imagine. Here is a pic of him on one of his trips in Spain.

I am so envious of everyone working on their cute Christmas gift goodies, and I haven't made one thing....I did get my shopping done, though and wrapped some of the presents last night.

It's almost Friday, does that count?

You might remember me talking about the quilt and bag I made my great nephew after he went fabric shopping with us.I posted a pic of the quilt. This is the bag I made out of the leftover fabric. I saw him Sunday, so gave it to him. He loved it! The quilt rolled up fits in the bag with room left for pjs. The checkerboard is pockets around the bottom.

Here is the new model for the Beginning Quilting class that I do at the store. The Kitty 9 patch is softer colorwise than the last few BQ models I have done, but I love the kitties. Hopefully others will as well and it will attract them to the class. I am not going to finish it now, just the top as they are easier to hang this way.

Went fabric shopping with my friend tonight. Had a good time picking out fabric for her next quilt. She found a gorgeous large leafy print in pinks, purples and reds....very nice. Luckily I have plenty here to work with so resisted buying any new this time. Whew!!!! yes it's a miracle!
