Scattered Thoughts

I taught the Scattered Thoughts class again Saturday...lots of pretty color combos and everyone got a good start. I made them all promise to show me their tops when they are finished.

Yes, they took the quilter's oath!

We put these on point like they will be in the final quilt. It really changes the look of the quilt blocks.

Two friends are making this quilt using the same fabrics. They struggled over the color choices, but I think they will be gorgeous!

The Scattered Thoughts pattern is now available on Craftsy if you want to make your own version!

More Scattered Thoughts

Jane's Scattered Thoughts
Jane brought her version of Scattered Thoughts to the Highlights Sampler Club the other night...it is stunning. Her rich batiks really  brought this pattern to life! She found a large print that she has never been able to cut up (smile) and pieced this pretty backing for it.  You can't see it in the pictures, but she made a label for it too. We are all trying to get better at making those labels!
Not too many pictures from class, but these quilts are coming along. Marilyn got her border sashings made over the past month, so was able to see the beginnings of the over all design show up.
Marilyn's Highlights Sampler
They worked on the Eccentric Star, which is the alternate block and have to make eight of them.
Jane's Highlights Samplers
Jane is making two quilts, one with a yellow background and the other with the green. Her grandson chose the fabrics as one of them will be his.
I'm not sure why I didn't get pictures of the other quilter's blocks...sometimes I wait until closer to the end to see what they get finished and then in all the flurry of wrapping things up, I forget. sigh....

Love those finishes!

Lorraine brought in her finished Scattered Thoughts quilt top Saturday to show me. She used soft colors so the graphics seem to be floating along.
Dianne finished her Scattered Thoughts top on retreat...you can see she had a little help holding it up to show us!
I worked on my new quilt design last night...I hadn't touched it since retreat. I got the rest of the rows sewn together and the border sections cut, sewn together and ready to attach. Hopefully I will get it finished tonight. Here is a little sneak peek....

Love a new beginning...

Diana W
Part of the fun of teaching classes is that you get to see the designs come to life in different colorways. I would love to have the time to make each quilt several times, but it just isn't possible with my time constraints. So when I see a pattern I designed, like Scattered Thoughts, being made in different fabric choices, it's especially fun for me.

Diana W. (top of page) is using fabrics with a graphic twist, while Lorraine and Jane are using batiks.

There is a lot of background in this quilt, so it's interesting to see what they choose for that as well. While Diana W and Lorraine went with a light background, Jane, Gina and Diana S chose vibrant tone on tones for their background. That is going to really change the look of the quilt too.

Kim had a soft pretty floral background...she is also adding green and brown to the quilt. Once they had some of the first sets of blocks made, most of them started sewing more stripsets together so completing the rest of the blocks would be quicker.

I am excited to see these quilts finished!

Not much sewing going on.....Scattered Thoughts class today

Scattered Thoughts
It's been a busy week back at work, so not much sewing  going on! I am teaching my newest design, the Scattered Thoughts quilt class today at Cut Up and Quilt, so I'll get to see lots of starts in different colorways for it today. That's always fun!

We had a weather day from school on Wed. but I worked on the patterns for the new sampler most of the day. I'm still not finished, but getting there.

My small quilting group met Thursday night....we had fun catching up.
Scattered Thoughts
It was a busy week back at school. I'm pretty behind there, but just keep plugging away at it.

Happy Saturday....hope you are quilting!
