Quilters of the Corn

Quilters of the Corn
I'm back from my retreat... I got lots done, including talking and laughing. Teresa of Stitchin' Tree Quilter's Cottage suggested a picture by the corn, so we had fun with that. This was our ninth retreat together and the fourth time to stay there, and it's even better now as she has opened a small shop that is connected to the retreat center. Want to shop in your jammies...you can! Want to shop late at night or early morning? you can!

We gathered around the cutting table to play  Teresa's Traders Dice game with 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles and the LCR dice game with fat quarters. Our challenge for the next retreat will be to have something made with the rectangles we have left from playing the games.
Dianne's finished top

She quilted it and bound it...another finish!

Diana made some cute IOWA potholders and table mats for gifts. Someone is very lucky!

If you look closely at the white and gold fabric, you will see the counties and towns of Iowa.

Rose's new wallhanging

Dianne's backing for her king size Braid quilt

Cindy's version of my StarLuna Sampler pattern....she built the quilt around the sewing notion fabric she has had in her stash for many many years! All the fabrics were from her stash except the setting triangles....she thought it looked like threads!
Pat is making this duck quilt for her son....She wants to get some more of the brown for the border, so couldn't finish it.

Pat let me borrow her cute bag pattern to make a bag...I want to make more now. I added a clear inside pocket for extra storage.

Rose's Snow Globe

A group of us made and traded coffee cup blocks awhile back so Diana was working on putting hers together. I can't wait to see it finished!

When I left the retreat, I headed to Earling (my hometown, about 25 miles away) for a going away party with my family for  my youngest daughter, Rachel. She is moving to Baltimore this week and I'm going along to drive her car there and help her. We leave Wed!. I'm excited to see the eastern part of the US. I've only been east once, to Washington, DC so it should be fun, once we get there. Looooooong drive first. Then I will fly home next week. If you've been there or live near, what are some good quilt stores in the area? I will be there for a few extra days so we have plans to do some sight seeing and shopping.

Third day coming to you live from Quilter's Cottage..

Lots of creativity and sewing going on this weekend.

I finished my new version of the MissTess pattern and cut out a new design last night.
Cindy finished her baseball quilt....it's so cute!
Pat finished her Stack n Whack....gorgeous!
Rose made a lot of headway on her Iowa quilt...she is finishing it this morning.
No time to chat, have to get back to sewing!

Coming to you live from Retreat.....

Cindy's first finish
Our first day of retreat went really well, once we got organized and started working. This is our 9th retreat together so we are pretty good at setting up and figuring out food to bring. Since it's our fourth time at Quilter's Cottage near Woodbine, we just make ourselves at home. Teresa has moved her shop here too now, so you can shop at all hours of the day or night.

Dianne made this cute sewing mat for under the machine for Diana's birthday.

We played a game on our last retreat with 5" squares, so we challenged ourselves to make something with our winnings. Dianne made this cute sewing mat with pockets.
Pat made this see-through bag. I want to make one!
Rose made us each a cute twister mug rug.
Cindy's adorable Twister quilt.

I made this table mat...or very large mug rug.
This time we are playing games with fat quarters and rectangles, so we will have to make something with the rectangles for next time.
Rose attached the binding so this is her first finish, and she finished the below quilt too!
Pat is getting her Stack n Whack finished.
Dianne has been working on her braids for a long time, so she is happy to have a finished top!

Have to go sew...more later!

Tuesday Sew-in day!

I sewed with the Tuesday group yesterday...it's always fun to see what everyone brings. Michael works there and brought in his Stack n Whack quilt to show us. We loved it! See if you can see the Trek stars on it.
Becky brought the eight paper-pieced diamonds she had made at a retreat last year. She needed to put them together with the setting triangles and squares. Isn't it gorgeous?
Cheri worked on another set of Stack n Whack blocks that she made with her leftovers from her first quilt. She used green background this time and they look so different!
Dianne worked on setting and finishing her Stack n Whack too....she auditioned many shades of pink, purple and coral for that small border, but we all liked this one the best.
I bound Cobblestone Path, but still don't have a good picture of the whole quilt. I should've asked some of the ladies to hold it up so I could take a pic, but I didn't. I will get one soon! I also cut out a new version of the Miss Tess quilt, so it's ready to arrange and sew together.

I finished quilting Ruby Shadow this morning, so need to trim it and attach the binding. I'm also getting things ready to go on my quilt retreat tomorrow. I am taking two new projects, and a few other things I've been working on. I will post retreat updates while I'm there so you can join in on the fun.
