Sewing Tuesday!

I had a great Easter with family. The kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt and we got lots of visiting in!

I finished writing the patterns for the new sampler yesterday, so I was doing the happy dance! I enjoy writing patterns but there are so many with the samplers that it takes awhile. I need to double check them for mistakes, but it's best to wait a few days so I can look at them with a fresh eye.

I got a much needed haircut, then came back home and sewed the backing fabric together for the flying geese quilt. As you can see, it's on the machine and ready to quilt. That's the plan for tomorrow.....

Today I'm going to go sew with the Tuesday ladies...they meet every week and sew. We started this a couple of summers ago when I was off work in the summer and they have kept meeting every Tues. so I like to go when I am off and join them. I plan on starting on the mystery quilt today, so I will be spending the first part of the day cutting. I love starting a new project! I'm looking forward to catching up with all of their news and see what they are working on!

Great day sewing!

I had a great day sewing with friends yesterday! The first thing I worked on was the easy receiving blanket that I saw on Missouri Star Quilt's YouTube video.  It was as easy as they said, and I can see where the more you made, the faster you would go. I made mine using 42" and 52" squares instead of 30" and 40" squares because I like them just a little bigger. It turned out about 47". 

I also got started on my new great nephew's quilt....since we know his name, I thought it would be fun to do some free pieced letters. I just hope the Dr. is right about the sex of the baby...cos that could render this quilt useless! Anyway...I hope to work on it some more later. Am not positive what I am going to do, but have a few ideas.

Yuko is a new quilter and finished her binding on this quilt. She quilted it herself also.

 Brenda worked a quilt she is making her husband.

 Dianne is making a special quilt for her granddaughter.

 Kim hosted this fun day and is working on a miniature quilt. Lots of tiny pieces!

Pat brought her finished Twisterweave Mystery Quilt to show and tell! Love it! She worked on a sampler quilt we are doing in class.

Tuesday Sewing and The Gorgeous Letter G

 The usual group got together and sewed yesterday. Seems like everyone is getting lots of UFOs finished. While we were there, I got a couple of them to hold up my St Marks quilt to get a good pic of it. I got the back sewn together for this quilt, as well as the asian Circle and Spin. 

I also worked on sewing together my strips of diamonds. It is just very scrappy, so no pattern. I just hated to waste all those diamonds. I still have a few left. Here they are, hung crookedly on the design wall.

 Jane had gotten a lot finished since we met last. This is her Twisterweave Mystery Quilt. She made the twin size. See her kitties?

 She put a piano key border on her Circle and Spin.

 Hope this quilt doesn't walk away!

 Betty brought her Sampler #9. She quilted it herself. She was working on quilting her Twisterweave mystery quilt yesterday, and she was almost finished with the binding. She promised to bring it back next week so I can take a pic of it finished.

 Laura worked on more of her Sampler #13 blocks. She is still caught up.

 Eileen finished her Twisterweave Mystery quilt yesterday. So pretty!

 Dianne finished her Sampler #12.

Diana worked on setting her Sampler #11 blocks with setting triangles.

 Ahhhh, the Glorious, Gratifying, Gorgeous Letter G!!! ain't it purty?

Tuesday sewing day & class

Tuesday is becoming sewing day for some of us this summer...we've been meeting the past few Tuesdays to sew in the classroom at the store. I love the chance to sew with others! I got the St Marks quilt sewn together so am ready to make the borders.

As I was cutting the diamonds for this quilt, I had some 1 1/2" - 3" strips left over so I sewed them together in sets. I plan on cutting these up and making a  border with them and sandwiching it in between borders of the dark blue floral. Hopefully I will get this top finished today. I really need to shop for backs now, as I need a back for my daughter's asian Circle and Spin quilt too.

Laura continued work on her Spiraling Out Sampler #13...she is now officially caught up!

Diana finished her Circle and Spin top. She was working on this one on a past Tuesday sew-in day.

 Dianne finished her Twisterweave Mystery Quilt. Betty was there working on her mystery quilt as well, but I didn't get a picture of hers. Yet. I will. She missed the last class, so had a little catching up to do.

 Diana finished this one at home so brought to share. This is her Jigsaw Puzzle #2.

 Dianne had borders to put on this one, so finished it in no time.

 I also had the last session of the Centrifuge Sampler Quilt Tuesday night. Several ladies put their blocks on the design walls so I snapped some pix of that as well.

 It is always fun to see my patterns come to life with someone else's fabric choices.

It is going to hit 100 here today, so after our unseasonably cool summer weather, we will be sweating today! We are hoping it will dry things up a bit here too. The flooding goes on in this area, though we personally haven't had any ill effects yet, and we had about 3" of rain over the weekend. I know some people in the south really need rain, so I wish we could build a pipeline and send it to them!

Sewing and lots of diamonds

 I got together with a couple people the other day just to sew. Diana's daughter is a budding quilter, so she came along to sew too.

 I recovered the wall boards a few weeks ago in the classroom. They were covered in dark homespuns before, you might remember seeing them in the background on pix. I realized when I had the flannel all over the walls for the puzzle classes that it made it so much brighter in there, so the store mgr. agreed it was time to redo. Course redoing the wall boards just means that now the room needs to be painted. lol

 Laura worked on her Sampler #13 blocks. Here is a completed one. She is using some amazing asian prints.

 K has been making crumb blocks since Christmas, when she got her new sewing machine, so we admired those. She got a couple more made Thursday.

Diana worked on several things, including her Spiderweb Stringpiecing blocks. She is using all her scraps once, and then will use them again. That is why she hasn't trimmed them yet. It looks like a party decoration, doesn't it?

 Here are my St. Marks diamonds in all their glory. I need to do some rearranging, I just put them up to see how they looked. I need to find somewhere here at home to hang a wall so that I can put them on it and be able to have it up awhile while I play with them. I have too many windows and doors in my house so it is hard to find a spot. I think I might use a dark blue floral for the setting triangles.

We had a great time sewing! It's always fun to sew with friends. I don't get to do it much...I am usually on the other side of the table.

Fun sewing day

Last Saturday,  6 of the 7 ladies who went on a retreat together at Farmer's Dotter Quilt Retreat  last summer got together and had a sewing day. Poor Cindy had to work...we missed her! With predictions of an inch of blowing snow, we headed over to Kim's house. We had a great time sewing, chatting and eating! She was a great hostess and had lots of room for us to work.

 There is chili cooking in that pot behind Kim. It was yummy!

The blowing snow got so bad that several people left early. Diana comes from Avoca, a small town about 40 miles from here. She was packing up to leave when her husband called and told her not to try it as it was so bad. She ended up staying overnight at Kim's and they got a lot of sewing done...or so they say. I know a bottle of wine was involved at some point....

My sister is coming in from Canada on Tuesday, so I am trying to get some cleaning done.I finished quilting the Cottage Quilt yesterday and went shopping with my sister. I am officially finished shopping!  I bound the quilt today and hung it at the store. 

 2 more days of school and we are out for the holiday break. I'm ready!
