Student finishes

 It's always fun to see quilts that students have made from your classes. This is Jane's Mosaic quilt. She used lots of bright fabrics and made a center out of some Dr. Seuss fabrics. She also embroidered her grandson's name on some of the squares, though I'm not sure if it will show up in these pix.

 Naomi took the Circle and Spin class last fall at Cut Up and Quilt. Her quilter posted some pictures on facebook of the quilt after she quilted it. It turned out so pretty.

 I got a quilt loaded on the machine yesterday and quilted about four rows. I am meeting with my retreat group today so we can plan our meals for our upcoming Aug. quilt retreat. Should be fun!

Mosaic fun

Saturday's Black and White Mosaic class was fun. This version of a stained glass look uses strip piecing methods and goes pretty quickly. You make squares like this, then put them together with sashings for the final quilt.

Lots of great colors!

 I am off today, so plan on sewing most of the day. While I was making the Lotus quilt, I could see a pattern the blocks make that looks like flowers, if the coloring is placed differently, so I cut out some more jewels yesterday using the HexNMore ruler. I want to play a little with the patterns you can get by placing the colors in different arrangements. I will try to remember to take pictures as I go...I do play around with different settings a lot but don't always remember to take pictures of the steps.

I went to Mangelson's yesterday and got more of the small dot print to make more pillows for the library. I was glad they still had it as it was on the clearance wall. If you live in this area, they have a nice selection on their clearance wall right now at 30 & 40% off.

A black and white finish...

I was bound and determined to get this quilt finished last night, so I came home from work, ignored the floor that needed cleaned and the dishes in the sink and got started right away. Here are the large rows I sewed together on Sunday. I got the top finished, then had to decide if I wanted a border or not.

I liked it without the border, but it was just shy of being twin size, so I decided I might as well add a small border so that it would definitely fit a twin. I had this larger floral print in black and white...Conrad liked it so it was a go!

I got it finished and hung for a photo op. It was dark outside, so I will get better pix later. I just couldn't wait!

Guess who is behind the quilt? Smokey has to investigate! After I got this finshed, I worked on a new hexie project for a little while. Hope to get it finished tonight.

My brother-in-law is doing well, thanks to those that expressed concern.
